Welcome to Wheeler

 

Major Sheldon Wheeler Elementary School is situated on historic Wheeler Army Airfield. The school in named in honor of Major Sheldon H. Wheeler, a former commander of Luke Field on Ford Island who lost his life when his plane crashed during a demonstration exercise on July 13, 1921. Our school has five multi-classroom buildings, nine portable classrooms, a library, and a cafeteria shared with neighboring Wheeler Middle School. Students travel from Schofield Barracks, Camp Stover, Wheeler Army Airfield, Launani Valley, and the Waikalani Woodlands.   The faculty and staff of Wheeler Elementary are committed to the task of working together towards a common belief that all students will learn and that each student is a unique and valued individual.  We believe that when education is a shared responsibility between the school and family we can best meet our students’ academic, social and emotional needs.  This shared responsibility is captured in our school’s brand, “One Team, One Mission.”  Wheeler Elementary school is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
