Lokahi Wall

This video talks about our Lokahi Wall Mural created collaboratively by our staff in 2020. Wall artist and teacher Heather Matsuura, worked collaboratively with our Principal, Kendrick Kakazu to create our mural. Staff members worked together to paint the mural which tells the story of our WE community.

"This is the story of Major Sheldon Wheeler Elementary School‘s Lokahi wall. Lokahi  means unity or unity in one and exemplifies how we come together here at Wheeler to best serve our students. It tells the story of how families from all 50 states come together to create a community where our children can learn, work and grow together as one ohana. It represents the promise of Hawaii, the promise of our military in its mission to serve and protect, and the promise of our staff to reach every child that we’re privileged to teach and inspire. It is a promise that is founded in tradition which enables us to be prepared for the future.  So with open hearts, minds and a love for learning, WE are Wheeler Elementary."
